Version 2026-05-31 · Effective 31 May 2026
Professional standards for the Now Generation Network portal.
Our community
The Now Generation Network is a professional community of young African leaders convened by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation. The portal exists to help members connect, mentor, and collaborate with trust and respect.
Expected behaviour
Members are expected to:
- Treat others with respect, dignity, and professionalism.
- Honour confidentiality expectations in mentorship and private messages.
- Use the directory and messaging features for genuine professional connection.
- Give accurate information on profiles and event submissions.
- Respect boundaries if another member declines contact or mentorship.
Unacceptable behaviour
The following are not permitted:
- Harassment, bullying, hate speech, or sexual harassment.
- Discrimination based on protected characteristics.
- Spam, pyramid schemes, or repeated unsolicited pitches.
- Publishing or scraping member contact details for unrelated mailing lists.
- Pressure to move sensitive conversations off-platform for inappropriate purposes.
- Retaliation against someone who reports a concern in good faith.
Mentorship norms
Mentorship is a voluntary, member-led programme. Mentors and mentees should agree on cadence, confidentiality, and goals. Either party may end a mentorship relationship through the portal or by notifying programme administrators.
Events
Community-shared events must be accurate and welcoming. Do not use events to solicit unrelated commercial audiences. Respect attendees' privacy — coordinate through the portal rather than publishing personal contact details.
Consequences
Breaches may result in warnings, feature restrictions, removal from mentorship, or account suspension. Serious conduct may be referred to NGN ExCo and the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
Reporting
Use in-app message reporting for messaging concerns. For other issues, contact programme administrators or email ngn@moibrahimfoundation.org. See our Moderation Policy for how reports are handled.
These documents are published for the NGN Portal community. MIF legal review may refine wording before formal sign-off.
